Pop-up store by 3 artists at "Ashinoko Terrace" in Hakone until 8/31

Pop-up store by 3 artists at “Ashinoko Terrace” in Hakone until 8/31

reopening of business

Lake Ashinoko Terrace, a complex by Lake Ashinoko that was closed in April and May due to the new coronavirus, reopened for business on June 1.

In conjunction with the reopening, a pop-up store "At the Field 2" is being held at the event space, featuring three of our artists.

The first weekend after the self-restraint, the weather was good and there was a large turnout. However, compared to previous years, the number of visitors is still low.

Lifestyle goods from Kodue Hibino, MiW Morita, and Marianne Halberg all in one place

Last summer's "In the Field" was Kodue Hibino's solo store.

This year, we have more artists to handle, and each of them excels in their own unique charm, so we have proposed a joint event for the three artists this year.

Visitors to the store are also able to pick up and purchase products by artists that appeal to their own sensibilities.

Kodue Hibino's Corner.

In addition to standard handkerchiefs, many bags, pouches, dresses, and other atelier works are also on display.

Usually only available at exhibitions or solo shows, but we have borrowed them specially for this occasion. All are available for purchase.

Many accessories, pouches, and other items are available.

This corner is dedicated to the illustration artist, MoritaMiW / moritaMiW.

All of Morita's creations have a very warm and relaxing design, as if they came out of a fairy tale.

Since this is a collaboration with a towel manufacturer in Imabari, handkerchiefs and pouches based on toweling fabrics such as gauze and pile are lined up.

Tote bags, which just went on sale on June 10, are also lined up. The motifs of the bags are three kinds of animals: cows, rabbits, and cats, and they are all woven, not printed, by MiW.

You will surely fall in love with the world of MiW Morita, with its kunyus, pouches, postcards, and bath towels that tell the stories of Red Riding Hood and Alice.

The last item is by Marianne Halberg, a cute and mature Swedish ceramic artist.

Scandinavian design is colorful, with repeating patterns of wood and geometric patterns, but Marianne's is just white and blue.

Originally born as the daughter of a florist, she spent her life surrounded by flowers, so her ceramics are often vases, and her motifs are also typically floral.
Checks are also a typical motif of hers, with a variety of patterns, both thick and thin.

The unique feature of this design is that it is a mixture of 3D and 2D, and the 3D-like drawing on a 2D plate is a bit mysterious.

In addition to plates and bean plates made at a Japanese kiln, there is a wide variety of items for living, dining, and fashion goods, including tote bags, pouches, cushion covers, and luncheon mats.

The exhibition period has been extended until the end of August.

Since the ban on out-of-prefecture travel will be lifted nationwide on June 19, we expect more and more people from the Kanto area to visit Hakone in the future.
We hope to be able to return to our daily routine little by little.
